On negatives from 1947, I discovered strange shades that seemed to be drawn directly on the image itself.
I found out that decennia before photoshop, photographs were manually corrected by applying tiny pencil stripes directly onto the surface of the negative.
I realised that I was looking at details of people´s appearances that someone else decided to make invisible.
I put together a fictious family to remind us that manipulating the photographic image is as old as the medium – and that it is always worth looking at the aspects of our lives we prefer not to be seen.
